She births babies, two at a time. She can change a diaper while eating a sandwich. She tames nap time with a simple whisper. She is... The Most Interesting Mom in the World.

The Ottobots at Month 3

Holy crap it’s already been 3 months! And what a 3 months it’s been. Let’s take a look at how far they’ve come along.

a thing or 2 on twins

I get a few readers who find my site by searching for stuff like “twin pregnancy” or “30 weeks twins”. This one’s for you guys.

I’ve been the new mom already. I’ve gone through the emergency-room trip for nothing, breastfeeding, baby opssie off the bed, crying, diaper and the like, woes. I’ve kept a newborn alive and she’s alive TO THIS DAY, even still! Can you believe it?!

So when I was pregnant with “baby-monster” (what we called baby in utero) I was all like, “OMG this is gonna be a breeze! I’ll home-birth and baby wearing and coconut oil, OH MY! I’m so much wiser and I totally know what to do this time around.”

Hahahaha… cute, right? Oh life… you silly tricky little bastard, you.

Baby-Monster turns plural.
Home birth turns hospital birth.
Totally prepared turns “has anyone seen my pants?”

After all the hoopla of birth settled and The Guy was out getting lunch, I placed both babies on a pillow, between my legs. We were all alone, the 3 of us. They were sleeping peacefully when I had this moment. In that moment I thought to myself,

“Ok… ok… I can do this. It’ll be like having an extra baby to take care of. It’ll be a little extra work but nothing too insanely different”

This is the point where all my seasoned twin momma’s start laughing at me.

Fast forward to now. I’ve been a mom to twins for all of 3 months and 8 days, now. Some days I feel like I’ve got it down to a science. Most days… not so much.

It’s wild. Like, constant WTF, wild.

There are a few things I wish someone had told me. Screamed at me. Beaten into me! Let me break it down to you “30 weeks twins”. So later on you can say no one told you. Because you’re too busy to remember your own name.

Valentines Day Project Life Download

Since it’s right around the corner, I thought I’d do something fun and created a Valentine’s Day Project Life card for this year’s festivities. I was so happy with the design I decided I would share it with you all! You can download that right here.

Yaay for free stuff!

I designed the card and printed it on heavy card stock paper but you can use one of the journaling cards that comes with the core kits. Paislee Press did a great tutorial on how to do that here.

My thought was to add me and my sweethearts initals to the heart but you’re welcome to do as you please. If you do use it, I’d love to see the results!

I’m still getting the hang of this whole Project Life stuff but I’m super excited to be involved. I’m a little behind but I bought a daily planner that I’ve been using just for my album and I’ve got every week thus far, all sketched out with notes on pictures and everything! I just need to get my girls to cooperate with me on the creative time I’d like to take to actually get my ideas out on paper.

I’ve been going through forums, blogs, and pinterest (seriously, is there anything better for inspiration) and I’ve got some really cool new toys in route to help keep me motivated. I bought some pretty washi tapes, a date stamper and (GASP!) and new old school typewriter that I’m absolutely stoked to be getting.

What are some of your favorite tools!?

From your iPhone to your aLbum

If you’re anything like me, your day to day photos live and die on your iPhone. The extent of their life goes as far as TwitPic or uploading them to FaceBook. Other than that though, they never see life beyond the computer.

My challenge with starting this Project Life Challenge was getting them from phone to paper, where I could turn them into art. Well…

Ya folks… I did it! I found a way. And it was a lot easier than I thought, I might add. With the help of a few awesome apps on my iPhone and my super duper photo album (mostly full of babies but HEY! I had two at once, m’kay. Double the cute, cut me some slack!), I was able to put my photos to real work. Want me to show you how? TOO BAD! Lol…

Just kidding. I’ll show you!

Project Life Photo Challenge 2012

I’ve recently gotten into Project Life. What is project life? Well, it’s scrapbooking, journaling, and photography all rolled up in a creative little package. You can do it everyday or do it every week. Or you can just do it in themes, as the need arises (like I had been trying to do).

I bought the supplies last year with the idea that I wanted to get started right away, capturing my weeks as they passed. Alas, I had some babies and… well lets just say all that fell to the wayside.

My goal this year was simple: make it happen. It’s not a resolution. It’s just a goal. Something I know I would enjoy feeling obligated to accomplish.

The problem for me isn’t just time though. The problem is sometimes my life just isn’t that exciting that I have something worth noting each week. So I decided to grab some friends and make a fun little challenge out of it. Something to encourage us to make a habit out of it. What we came up with… 52 weeks worth of themes!

My thought was you could either use the theme for your entire week or you could use the theme in addition to your week’s own events or you could do it both ways, using the theme as filler between those uneventful weeks.

I figured if one used the theme as their entire week’s journaling, then small bits of what you considered important in your life, would peak out in the challenge. At the end of the day, it’s whatever makes you feel best. If you fall behind a week or two or you’re coming into the game late, no worries! This isn’t a race and the only prize are pages you did accomplish.

If you’re not really sure what project life is all about well then watch this video. It’s perfect for those of you who are busy and don’t really have the time to dedicate to scrapbooking but want to capture their life in small, bit sized bits.

If you’re a project lifer and are interested in joining us well by all means, LET’S DO THIS!!! Spread the list to your friends. Share with us your progress and let us know how you’re utilizing the list. Tag it in Twitter, Flickr, and/or Instagram (I’m gonna use #plchallenge2012) and show us what photos you’re working with!
